Wednesday evening, Zach and Mark had the great idea of going to the U.S. Open. It was not because they had tickets mind you, but the idea that like any sporting event we would find cheaper tickets outside the stadium. So with excited hearts we hopped on the train to Flushing Meadows.
Our ears were blessed with sweet music from a blind accordion player and his son who accompanied on guitar. It was very beautiful and helped boost our spirits and hopes of finding great tickets at a great price.
We arrived as the sun began setting on the stadium where Zach's tennis idols were playing and warming up for the next match.
We felt a little saddened by this sign but still felt sure like any sporting event there would be tons of people holding out their extra tickets at discounted prices.
Though we could hear the sweet sounds of the ball hitting the racquet and the ground in a melodic rhythm, this is as close as we were able to get to the starts of the U.S. Open.
There were no ticket sales allowed outside of the approved areas and with the cheapest ticket hovering around $75, we decided to wait until next year. We hope by then that price wont sound as bad for a once a year event.
To console ourselves and feed our hungry bellies we headed to McAnn's, our go to pub, for food and a football game.
It worked wonders on our saddened spirits to watch a fun game and eat good food. I was even able to trade my fries for fried zucchini. My day was officially made.
Happy Thursday everyone!
