Foggy Day with Friends

We were so lucky to get to hang out with one of my best friends and her hubby this past weekend. They were in Rochester for an interview at one of the grad schools they had applied to. After the interviews and tours they headed down to our neck of the woods to explore the city with us. 

It was really foggy, but that made for zero crowds and a motivation to see everything as quickly as possible. It's really amazing how much we were able to get done in one day.

Williamsburg

We wandered around Williamsburg  the afternoon of Presidents' Day. Almost all of the restaurants in the area were closed except for a couple we found that were open for lunch. Apparently hipsters aren't into eating in the afternoon. This area is obviously built for the night crowd and not those who eat lunch before 5pm. The place was pretty empty too, those we did see fit right into your the stereotypical Brooklyn hipster look.

After exploring the area and the beautiful waterfront we wandered back to the subway as the neighborhood finally began to come alive for another night of riotous hipster partying. It was a fun area with some cool shops and great restaurants. As long as you don't want lunch, that is.

Week 19

Week 19. Weighing in around 8 ounces and 6 inches bum to head, Anna is like a bell pepper hanging out in my cantaloupe sized uterus. Her senses are developing and she can hear sounds outside the womb now that her ear bones are hardening. She is an incredible growing miracle and still feels like a dream. I really could forget I was pregnant if I didn't catch little glimpses of my belly in the mirror. Really, it doesn't feel like it looks.

Grimaldi's: 2nd Time Around

This was our second time going to Grimaldi's and since we skipped the long line and the 50 minute tourist wait, I enjoyed it so much more. We tried a new one this time, the original (with mozzarella, tomato and basil) with peperoni and ricotta. It may be my new favorite pizza. Truly delicious.

On the Island's Edge

We showed some friends around the southern end of the island by taking them out to Staten Island and back. We also had to walk around the Financial District to show off our navigational skills.  We're practically natives now.

Week 18

Now that we know we are having a girl, everything has become so much more real. I can actually use a name now instead of he/she/it/gummy bear/fetus...etc. I still slip up and call her by all the wrong names but, we know it's a SHE! 

Before my appointment last Tuesday, for the first time I felt a little flutter. It almost felt like a twitch in my uterus. I texted Zach right away telling him I thought I could feel our little one moving. I was so excited but still wasn't sure. Every once in a while though I can still feel it and I'm feeling pretty convinced its Anna.  When we saw her on the ultrasound screen she was moving like crazy, always wiggling that little body of hers. I'm convinced she is going to be an active little athlete now. My only symptoms now are feeling like eating all the time, feeling little wiggles and a stretching belly button. Seriously, it looks longer than normal and not nearly as deep... I think watching my body change is the most bizarre thing.

We are getting more excited every day and I could not be more grateful for such an easy pregnancy.

Beauty in Religion

These pictures are from last Saturday. Right after the big snow storm, Nemo, hit.  We were glad we had our duck boots too keep us dry. The sun was working its magic to clear the roads and melt the ice.Although the sun was out the wind kept things pretty chilly and we were happy to step into both of these building for a warm break.

Baked with Love

 After dinner we explored the M&M store and then headed to Magnolia Bakery. We each tried a delicious cupcake. I can't say I am a cupcake connoisseur because I really couldn't taste any real difference from the homemade kind. I definitely didn't mind eating it though.

Nemo
