Chocolate

Zach's boss came into town and took the group and myself out to dinner. We went to this place where everything was touched by chocolate. Max Brenner

We all loved how they took a theme and ran it through every aspect of the restaurant. The floor, the napkins, the lights, the plating, all stuck with a common theme and logo.

I was completely in awe at all the amazing menu choices. I started with a margarita panini  which came with a side of fries sprinkled with cocoa powder. It was sooooo, delicious.

For dessert I tried the S'mores Concoction. While it was good, I was a little disappointed by the marshmallow cream to chocolate ratio. It was about 30% chocolate and 70% marshmallow fluff when I would have liked the opposite.

Zach got the Melting Chocolate Truffle Heart Cake and Shake. That is what I will be getting if I go again. It was a rich soft chocolate lava type cake topped with caramel and strawberries.... I'm drooling just remembering it.

We had so much fun hanging out with the NYC office and being treated so delightfully. If you are a chocoholic you should check out Max Brenner.

Happy Friday everyone!

An Audry Kind of Day

On Paige's last day in New York we decided to do as Audry might have done. We visited Tiffany & Co. and were introduced to some delectable diamonds.

We took our time walking in and out of most of the stores on 5th Ave. All of them except maybe the Lindt chocolate store and Uniqlo were outrageously out of our price range. It was sure fun to dream about all the things we would buy if we were filthy rich though.

After shopping we ate our lunch on the steps of Holly Golightly's apartment. From the famous Audry Hepburn movie 'Breakfast at Tiffany's'. We enjoyed our Lindt truffles that looked like fish all alone in those big plastic bags, and then headed on our way.
We picked Zach up from work and headed to our favorite Irish joint to have dinner with Paige for her last time in NYC before finding the stadium for the US Open. Before we knew it we were sending Paige off in a classy black taxi to be taken back to her life in the west.
I had enjoyed having Paige around, to explore NYC and fill my days with great company, so much that the apartment felt too big and too lonely and I had no fun plans anymore. So now I anxiously await the next adventure and who ever will visit us next.

Fun and Food with Four

After our High Line adventure we headed to work to pick Zach up and got his co-worker, Mark, to tag along. We all went to The Empire for free jazz and a wonderful view of the city.

After wards we ventured out to find Serendipity III, the restaurant they actually went to in the movie 'Serendipity'.  The wait was about an hour long so after making our reservation we headed out to explore. We found a sky tram that took us over the river and hopped on to see where it would lead.

After our tram excursion we headed back to the restaurant for their famous frozen hot chocolate. It did not disappoint. They were huge and we decided we probably should have got only two to share. If you are ever in the area and looking for a fabulous date night dessert, we highly recommend Serendipity III.

Happy Wednesday everyone!

Friends and the High Line

On Monday (as in 8/13/12) Paige and I headed out to find the apartments the show 'Friends' said their characters lived in. We were happy to discover they lived in an adorable area and were really in walking distance of each others homes. It was believable, thank goodness.

I also found my new favorite color scheme. Pretty sure I have to move their now that I love it so much.

Speak of the Devil. On the high line we even saw a picture of the lovely Jen Aniston.
We enjoyed our quick walk of the High Line and almost got a free Coke from the nice guy who took our picture. Id say it was a fabulous afternoon.

Happy Tuesday everyone!

Brooklyn Heights

After walking the Brooklyn bridge on Sunday we wandered around the Brooklyn Heights area and fell in love. We even picked out the homes we would move into. We decided we could all live quite happily and comfortable in this beautiful neighborhood.

After hanging out at the park for a while we headed to the Pier for a beautiful view of Down Town Manhattan.
It is clear that we have one of  the best quality cameras out there. That is one of the first things we will remedy once we are finally getting paid to both work full time.  So, hold on, better pictures are soon to come.

We hope you all had the most relaxing of weekends. Happy Monday everyone!

I and Love and You

Load the car and write the note
Grab your bag and grab your coat
Tell the ones that need to know
We are headed north south

One foot in and one foot back
But it don't pay, to live like that
So I cut the ties and I jumped the tracks
For never to return

Ah Brooklyn, Brooklyn take me in
Are you aware the shape I'm in
My hands they shake my head it spins
Ah Brooklyn, Brooklyn take me in

Three words that became hard to say
I and love and you
What you were then, I am today
Look at the things I do

Ah Brooklyn, Brooklyn take me in
Are you aware the shape I'm in
My hands they shake my head it spins
Ah Brooklyn, Brooklyn take me in

Dumbed down and numbed by time and age
Your dreams to catch the world, the cage
The highway sets the travelers stage
All exits look the same

Three words that became hard to say
I and love and you
I and love and you
I and love and you

This song by the Avett Brothers is all I can think of when I think of Brooklyn. It gets stuck in my head and Zach and I walk around singing it all day long. It is one we love and recommend the song and the band to any and all.

Happy Friday everyone!

Crif Dogs and Park Naps

Before I begin, I have a slight confession. While it looks like Paige has been here a few weeks, the truth is that she is gone. She stayed for a week and spent the rest of her summer in the more beautiful part of the world. These post are just extending the memories and is a testament of the good times we had (and what a crazy picture person I am). I promise to update you on what we are actually doing in a week or so when I run out of family pictures. Until then, you can enjoy the memories with us.

We heard of Crif Dogs a while back and decided we had to try it while our hot dog loving Paige was in town.

˜

It was a stop we did not regret. Zach's was wrapped in bacon and covered with chili, jalapenos and coleslaw. Mine was wrapped in bacon and decorated with sour cream and avocados.  Seriously delicious!

After our long day enjoying the museums and a filling lunch at Crif Dogs we sat down on the Great Lawn in Central Park. The air was warm and the grass brought everything to a perfect temperature and we all felt relaxed and tired as we let ourselves rest on the lawn.  A perfect end to a perfect day I'd say.

Happy Thursday everyone!
