On a rainy Sunday, late in September, we gathered to celebrate Ricky's 17th birthday. He played it cool and kept it low key with a homemade sponge cake topped with fruit and a single candle. He is growing into a man i hoped he would and its fun to see him surprising all of us with his maturity while keeping that love of life that has always made us laugh.
