Looking Up

While walking around Chelsea on my lunch break I came across this crazy building. It is covered in polka dots!

The Maritime hotel has different dot designs and materials on each side of the building.  It almost looks like a bunch of buildings close to each other with the same motif.

Anyway, these are just some of the fun things you notice if you let yourself look up every once in a while.

Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone!

Inwood Hill Park

We are surrounded by lots of beautiful parks. We spent our Friday after the storm walking down to the river. This was my first time seeing this park and it definitely wont be my last.

It is huge with so much exploring to be done. It is about a 10 minute walk from our apartment, and it has such a lovely view. We really did end up in a great part of town.
(Paige was here too. She was the one on the phone with Zach)

Happy Monday everyone!

Donuts and Dives

Last Monday night Zach and I went to Corner Bistro, for their famous burgers. They have a simple menu, like 8 items. There are about 10 tables and one bar all crammed in this corner of an old brick building. Its a total dive but it was perfect. The atmosphere worked and the food was simple and good.

I had heard about this bakery that was fairly close to where I worked that sold donuts for a buck fifteen. I was intrigued by the price. When I saw they sold any and all types of donuts all at that great price, I could not resist using a lunch break to check it out.

I don't know why but being in NY has made me a little bit obsessed with finding the best of every kind of food. The donut I tried here was good, but I will have to try a cream filled one to see if it is better than my breakfast truck find. Ha!

Have a delicious Friday everyone!

Clown Watching Wednesday

Hope you can laugh as much as I did. This just a small clip of the whole routine.

When I saw him just get on the train I started laughing. Definitely not a clown I felt afraid of, and I was genuinely entertained. I think he was the last performer I tipped. Nothing has been even close to as good since.

Happy Wednesday everyone!

23

I am still in the stage where Birthdays are exciting. I don't mind getting a little older. I like growing up and approaching new stages of life. I'm not sure when that will stop for me. I was always one of those kids that looked up to the big kids and could not wait to be their age. While I am more content with the age I am at now, I still look forward to privileges that come with older ages.

Well I am 23, yippee! I am one year closer to being able to rent a car. That's when you become a true adult, right?  This year I was surprised by a package from my family, my very own guitar from Zach and a tropical storm from you know who. It has been a very exciting Birthday and year and I am glad to be stepping even further away from those teenage years.

I was serenaded by the sweet plucking and tuning of Zachs new Uke.  He also made me a delicious chocolate cake with homemade fluffy chocolate frosting. It was a relaxing day full of movies and music.

My mom got me a puzzle. On Sunday we whipped it out and have been working ever so hard on it. Its a tough one though and it might take all week but, we will finish it, and enjoy it along the way.

Happy Tuesday everyone!

Halloween

Living in a studio apartment doesn't lend its self to a lot of cool decorating, but we tried to get a little festive around here.

I am in love with this pancake mix from Trader Joes. It was like two bucks for 5 mornings worth of pumpkin pancakes. I truly love this time of year.

On Sunday night Zach and I Google chatted with my parents. We found all these cool stickers and got all dressed up. It was pretty entertaining.

We get a kick out of dressing up without really dressing up.

We carved our little pumpkin in hopes that we might get a few trick-or-treaters this year.  Well and since that was what we did for our first date its one of those things I cant help but make a tradition. Oh, and I love the smell of pumpkin.

Down town is still without power. While some buildings have generators up and running. This might be what Halloween looks like downtown this year.  Talk about extra spooky.

Hope everyone had a happy Halloween!
