Roommates

My roommate Jenna got home from her mission to Guatemala a couple weeks ago. She came to Utah and we got together with our favorite Kaylie. We enjoyed Cafe Rio and hours of laughing and catching up. I was so lucky to end up in the same apartment with these two wonderful ladies 4 years ago. Our fourth roommate would have been there, I am sure, but she is serving a mission in San Diego. We all got along so well and even after years of not seeing each other we were able to pick up right where we left off.

I wish everyone could get the perfect set of roommates on  their first semester. It has been a real blessing in my life.

Happy Birthday

I remember being so nervous to meet my future mother-in-law. I was afraid she would be hard to please and picky. I was so grateful to finally meet her and I almost didn't believe anyone could be that nice. She has been so kind and loving even before I became a potential family member.

Its not just me she is kind and loving too. Its everyone. I am so grateful for her wonderful example of service and love. So I would like to say thank you and I love you to a beautiful birthday lady.

Playing House

This weekend Zach and I got to hang out with my Aunt Bug's (Laura) kids while she and my uncle did the St. George Ironman.  Yeah, they are the coolest people around.

Zach taught the boys how to play the Samoan version of rock, paper, scissors. 

We got to hear some lovely singing and harmonizing numbers as well as some ill rhyming. 

While the big boys went out to see 'The Avengers' the rest of us stayed home and had some girl time. This consisted of pot stickers, nail polish and amazing nail designs, as well as lots of ice cream. 

Later we played some fun games and tried to track my aunt and uncle during the race while the younger boys fell asleep. 

We later found out that the winds had been so bad 400 people had been pulled and many rescued from the huge waves during the swim. My aunt and uncle were passed by "The Truck" 3/4 of the way through the cycling portion. The winds were so bad they said they had to pedal at full speed just to make it down hill.  We felt bad they got pulled before the marathon since it is there strong point.

We rolled out the red carpet and made a sign for them to come home to while we were at church. Of course they will try another Ironman, but they are my idols just for signing up. 

Oh yeah, and the "baby sitting", such a joke. Those were the best kids I have ever been around. They took care of each other and remembered where they had to be and when. Zach and I not only have our parents to look to, but a wonderful aunt and uncle who raised the most perfect children.

Edenbrooke

Edenbrooke is a fun, feel good, easy read.  My grandma recommended it to me and let me borrow it from her. I got sucked in right away and couldn't put it down. I was so sad to have it end but loved the ending. I thought it was like a modern writing style of a Pride and Prejudice type romance. I definitely recommend it for those romantics who don't want to run into steamy scenes.

Great Escape

 This weekend Zach and I had the wonderful opportunity of getting out of town. Not that I don't already feel like I am on vacation living here but its always fun to shake things up a little bit and step away from lesson plans and such. 

We headed down to St. George to visit some family friends. Their oldest son was giving his farewell talk. He leaves to serve a mission for the LDS church in a couple of weeks and will be serving in Australia. It was a good excuse to visit and hang out while being supportive. 

They let us stay in their lovely condo in Hurricane. It was grand and spacious and had a pool. It was warm enough at 5 in the evening that we were even able to enjoy it for a couple of hours. 

While at our friends house on Sunday we (re)discovered a fun puzzle game. The object of the game is to use marbles to skip over one another, removing the skipped, ones until you only have one marble remaining.  The closest we got was two marbles but we never quite figured out how to get just one left. I think I might need to go find this game for myself.

After a delicious lunch and good company we decided to head back. It was hard to leave such a relaxing weekend behind, but we enjoyed all the happy memories we were able to make.

p.s. One of my dear friends mothers is in a coma and needing all the good thoughts and prayers she can get. About A Dog

It is my Grandpa and his dogs tradition to go out for a treat while my Grandma is at orchestra practice.  Zach and I got to ride along for the weekly treat. That little dog was so excited she was shaking and couldn't sit still.

We pulled into the McDonald's drive through and ordered three small cones and one child size cone. With in 3 min she had licked all of the ice cream in a lady like fashion and ate the cone. It was pretty entertaining to watch.
