When Motherhood Gets Messy

This morning while watching HGTV, eating breakfast, and waking up, Anna and I created the perfect storm. In general, Anna is very clean. She doesn't drool or spit up very often and her blow outs are few and far between. I think she has had 6 blow outs in her 7 months of life... that's pretty dang good. Also good to know is that Anna is very regular, like she poops every morning between 9 and 11. So while I was filling her empty stomach with rice cereal and formula from a bottle she stoped eating and started pushing, per her usual routine. The only problem was how much she had eaten right before pushing. She put her head against my neck, facing in, still pushing. Without warning three baby purges pushed every once of liquid out of her little stomach and all over both of us. Down my shirt, down my entire outfit, covering her face and clothes. So we ran, from the couch to the bathroom we ran. I riped our soaking clothes off and threw them into a pile. Getting her diaper off was another mess in itself. In my rush I forgot she had just pooped and in my diaper pulling off haste, I was reminded of the poop as it covered the already green bath mat. Oh boy. with clothes and bath mat in a pile and diaper in the trash we jumped in the shower.
After we were finally clean and dressed, again, we wandered back to the couch to assess the damage. The couch was clean, no carpets, toys, or blankets were touched. I was so happy to find that only the floor between the couch and the rug had been hit. I became so grateful that we had a washer and dryer in our unit so I could toss everything, including the bath mat, right into the wash. And in less than an hour it was if the messiest day had never happened.
It was a pretty funny show and I am so grateful that was it and that she wasn't sick. I'm sure that one day that mess will be laughably small in comparison to what lies ahead. So hopefully, (knock on wood) it won't ever be anything I can't handle with a shower and a washing machine.
I love motherhood, messes and all!

6 Month Shots

Anna weighed in at 17 lbs 2 oz and 27 3/5 inches long. No longer off the charts but still above the curve in the 65th percentile. She does a great job stopping the tears as soon as the band aids are on. I am in love with watching her grow.

Time with Cousins

At the end of January we got to hang out with  this beautiful gang for a week while my Aunt and Uncle celebrated their 20th anniversary in Florida. I never had the chance to get to know my cousins really well because of age differences and different living locations so this was such a good excuse to get to know them. I absolutely loved getting to know my creative, smart, silly, fun loving, and adorable cousins. I am so excited to hang out with them all again and have Anna grow up around such great examples. My favorite thing about Utah is definitely family.

Roommate Reunion

In January I had the chance to see these girls all at the same time for the first time in almost 5 years. We were all roommates our first semester of college and we all clicked right away. We became best friends and always look back on that semester as one of the best. These girls helped get me through a lot and helped propel me on a journey of growth I did not anticipate fresh out of high school.  I truly love the amazing women they have each grown to be and I cant wait to have roommate reunions for years to come.

This one time in Park City...

While Sundance film festival was going on we made our way around the main street of Park City to celebrity hunt and enjoy the atmosphere.  We saw one actor from Breaking Bad and another actor from LDS movies like the Singles Ward. As we looked around for places to eat we ran into a 100% free vegetarian restaurant. We had free black bean burgers, free chips, and free drinks, not to mention a place to eat it! It was an awesome find and we had so much fun walking around and enjoying each other.

Bombdiggity's

We are always on the hunt for a delicious burger and Bombdiggity's in South Jordan, Utah did not disappoint.  They are beefalo burgers with a delicious taste and one of a kind feel. While their buns were a little on the wimpy side their frozen custard was pretty robust. I would go back to hand select a pint of one of their specialty custards anytime. All in all I say give it a try, we sure enjoyed it.

All Moved In

We've moved.
We moved to Utah early November. With only a week and a half to pack up and move we decided to wait until we got to Utah to pick out an apartment.  We stayed with my parents while we started the hunt. I started getting frustrated after a week of hunting before we got a text from an aunt telling us about a great opportunity. There was a couple in North Salt Lake looking for a family to watch their house for a year and a half while they served a mission for the LDS church in New Zealand. We met with the couple many times and became really excited about the opportunity. Unfortunately, due to some health issues, their mission was put on hold. After not having a place of our own for two and a half months we were ready to find our own home. So, we started the hunt from where we left off, with even more motivation than before. Within a week we had found a great place. Great location, nice price, and much appreciated amenities. Two weeks after hunting we loaded up my parents van and truck twice, and that was it, we were with all of our stuff in one place for the first time in 2 years.

We are currently living in Murray, Utah. We are right on the TRAX line and so far its great. Its a 2 bedroom 1 bath (like 2 1/2 X the size of our studio in NYC) on the 3rd floor of a 4 story walk up. We may not be in the huge house and established neighborhood we had hoped to be in but we are still here and happy to have you come visit and explore SLC with us!

Katies Wedding

Katies Reception

Talk about a party! There was a chocolate fountain bar, a hot chocolate bar, dancing, bouquet throwing, cake eating and so many fun people to laugh with. Katie looked amazing in her custom gown and my aunt Tracy planned so perfectly that everything came together magically. It was one of the best weddings I have been too.
