Week Long Family Fun

Last year my mom, Zach, Ricky and I explored the Civil Defense caves while Megan and Holly were at EFY. This year we decided to take them along.

Somehow we ended up with only 3 working lights between the six of us, which proved difficult at times. We all made it in and out in one piece, so all is well.

After we enjoyed the caves we headed to the sand dunes for dinner and dessert.

Then someone had to break up our fun because we were in a no fire zone. The sign was right in front of our car. I had no idea it was a sign worth noting. Now we know what to look for.

We enjoyed a peaceful Sunday followed by some fun fireworks, in honor of Pioneer day.

We let the teens get some sleep and sent them off to EFY bright and early Monday morning.
To be continued...

School Is Officialy Out

First off, sorry for the lack of posts. I have been a little busy, with it being finals week and all. All the projects are in and I felt really good about all of my tests so now I can just hope for the best.
We watched 'Invictus' and 'The Painted Veil' over the weekend. They were both great and I recommend them both. How ever the 'The Painted Veil' is a tear jerker.

Zach decided since it was now officially summer it was time for the hair to go and the facial hair to grow. Well until a church meeting comes up, that is.  So here is the before picture.

This week I also got my new phone. It was quite the fancy little thing along with its intricate packaging. So far so good. And I am just a little excited about the 8 mega pixel camera. The last 5 pictures are proof of its awesomeness (because there was none to limited editing done).

Since it was Brock's last night in Rexburg for a few years we had to spend it in style. We went to Ying Yang's for dinner, Golden arches for sundaes and then headed to Sammy's for some good Garret Sherwood singing.

Now I am all ready to enjoy this wonderful summer. First off the family is driving up tomorrow for a full week of fun! But I'm not excited or anything.

Happy Summer Everyone!

The Party Continues

This week was pretty awesome. First off I had a 3 day weekend that was fantastic. Second, my Dad came to visit me the day after I got home! The last time he was in Idaho was when he dropped me off in 2008 for my first semester at school. It was fun showing off the new BYUIC (The BYU-I Center) as well as the rest of campus that is under construction. It was a great visit and I was so glad he added 8 more hours to the trip.

Thursday we went to the Allred concert at Sammy's. I had been hearing about this guy for the past two years and was excited to finally hear him and the band. They did a great job. A little whiny for my current taste but a really great show. He played a cover of 'Rollin in the Deep' that I loved.

Every summer that I have been here, this amazing garden comes to life. Last year the gardener created snail and dragon fly designs.

This year it looks like a spiral but it could change as the flours continue to grow and bloom. It is one of my favorite things about Rexburg.

Long Weekend

We enjoyed a nice long weekend in Utah. We took a 3 hour trip and turned it into a 4+ hour one. There was a wreck in a construction zone landing us a nice view of Bear World for an hour.

When we got to Utah we headed to North Salt Lake to hang out with family and watch a perfect fire work show. The weather was warm and our seats were amazing.

Sunday we enjoyed more great food and family time.

Later that evening we met up with my family that was also in Sandy at the time for more good food and company.

The day of the 4th we enjoyed some more shopping, great food, and a hike up to Donut Falls. It had been in the 90's until the 4th and we greatly appreciated the low 70's for our hike.

That night on the way home to Rexburg we stopped in Sandy for the close up fire work show of a life time. My grandpa spent quite a bit on some huge fire works and lit them off all at once. It was 30 sec of firework perfection!
Thanks for the amazing weekend Brett, Erica, Paige, Brock, Zach, Papenfuss and Bennett families!

Zach's 25th Birthday

Zach turned the big 25 last Thursday. 1/2 way to 50 and over a quarter of the way done with life. Wild, huh? He is so grown up there is nothing he can't do (due to age restrictions) besides eat off the senior citizens menu.

We were going to eat out but he decided home made pizza at home was what he wanted. Little did he know he would end up making most of the pizzas.

We had Brock and Matt over for pizza, ice cream cake and presents.

Zach's big gift this year was his selvedge denim jeans.
These are his before pictures. It takes quite a while to break them in but should last a very, very long time.

Happy Birthday to the best man a girl could ask for.

Summer Shooting

It was such a warm lovely evening in Rexburg. Brock came and picked us up and we all had a good time shooting.

Zach found a golf ball and set it in our target bush. And yes he got it. It took a while to find it but we think the bullet might still be inside judging by the one hole and the bump on the other side. Crazy, huh?

Brock and Zach were quite proud of hitting the stick. It was pretty impressive.

I even was successful at hitting my targets! I am pretty happy I actually hit what I aimed for.

While driving away Brock noticed the Rattle snake only a foot or so from the car. I rolled the window down just enough to get a picture.

It was a pretty fun way to enjoy Zach's last day of his 24th year.
